[CLAY’S] SPIRIT in the face of adversity has inspired millions around our nation, including me.

Like everyone he meets, Clay Dyer has made an indelible mark on my life. His focus on what he has and not what he lacks is a lesson for all ages. I have witnessed Clay in various settings and enjoy just looking around at the inspiration people get from him. Above all, I will forever cherish the times we have spent together on the water. Clay Dyer is awesome.

WITHOUT QUESTION, Clay is the most amazing person that I’ve ever had the pleasure to meet.  From his enthusiastic attitude to his incredible talent with a rod and reel, he is an inspiration to everyone around him.  His accomplishments in the sport of professional fishing and in life are, in my opinion, without equal.  His unwavering determination and sheer will to succeed are wonderful examples for all of us no matter what our chosen profession or circumstances in life may be

CLAY DYER IS A BLESSING.  Those of us who know him never see his handicap.  I don’t believe he has ever seen it.  Clay has made a discovery that most of us are yet to make about ourselves.  Each of us was created to be a blessing.

Quite some time ago my family and I had the privilege of hearing Clay Dyer speak at a Fishers of Men tournament event.  Wow, what an incredible story, testimony and inspiration!  Both of my young boys were so enamored by him that they wanted to stay and meet him afterwards.  We were among that last people to leave the auditorium that night.  My sons were truly drawn to him and learned many life lessons and my wife and I were inspired and still refer back to the messages we all heard that night.

The Company I work for, Strike King Lure Company has been associated with Clay for a long time.  It is such a privilege to have a relationship with him.  His energy for motivating others, sharing his story and introducing people to Jesus Christ is captivating.

This year Clay spoke at my home church.  Clay has now become such a polished, professional and truly gifted speaker that his life story and messages are even more impactful.  The large crowd was really blessed that night.  Afterwards our pastor said Clay gave the best, clearest and most motivational presentation of the message of Jesus that he had heard at the many events he had attended.  My youngest son, now 11, brought one of his best friends who was so impacted by Clay’s message that he could recite all the points Clay made and went home excited to tell his mom and dad and even wrote his dad a letter!

Listening to Clay will impact your life, no matter where you come from or who you are.  He will remove excuses you may have used for lame reasons or when you have whined about silly things.  He will motivate you to improve yourself and your relationships with others.  He will fire you up to take positive action in your life.  He will show you the power of Jesus and how God can empower your life for good, for now and forever.

I had to wait almost 8 years to meet Clay and tell him that he was one of the reasons I was still alive…
After two failed spinal fusions, I was told by my doctor that I would be in a wheel chair by the time I was 40.  I would not be able to tie my shoes, not be able to fish, and because of the surgery that he wanted to do next, my wife and I might not be able to have children.  I cannot even describe the emotions that I had at that moment.  I think I cried the whole three hour trip home.
As time went by, I got addicted to my pain medicine almost overdosing twice.  I felt I had nothing to live for.  I could not provide for my wife.  I could not work and might not be able to have a child.  My dreams of becoming a professional fisherman were slipping away.  Because of all the depression, I thought about suicide daily.  I remember wanting to pull out in front of a dump truck to “end it”.  I am not really sure why I didn’t.  I was only a few seconds away from not being a burden to anyone anymore…
One day my brother called me to tell me about “a guy on a fishing show.”  I will never forget how humbled he was by Clay and his story.  I remember him telling me that I needed to find out who Clay Dyer is and I should watch the show.  I was not working, so I had plenty of time to search around on the computer to find this video.  I was blown away…
I watched a guy with physical limitations fishing, living his dream, as I sat depressed because I had a messed up back.  I could not quit thinking about what Clay must have gone through and the obstacles that he had overcame to get to that point of his life.  It made me feel like I had nothing to complain about.  I should quit feeling sorry for myself and that I had plenty of reasons to live for.  Clay became an inspiration to me.
After finding a new doctor and having my third surgery, I quit all of my pain medicines and did rehab which enabled me to go back to work full time.  Although I chose not to pursue a carrier in tournament fishing, I now work in the fishing industry full time which is a dream for me.  My wife and I now have an amazing son, and at 43 years old I am living proof that “if Clay can, you can.”
Thank you Clay and God bless…
